Additional Description:Hat's off to you! This darling man whom we call, "Sir Blue" is handmade in Pennsylvania by Ben Gatski. The metal we use is from weathered steel. We hand draw the pattern on the metal with soapstone and cut it with a hand held plasma cutter. We then hand hammer and weld it into shape. The blue was hand painted with milk paint.
Over the years, we have created few human representations. And, so we decided it was high time we did! We challenged ourselves to create a whimsical person. That is how Sir Blue came to be!
Artist StatementOur pieces have a story, and we hope they’ll become a part of yours. We are Ben and Kate Gatski, self-taught artists who love using simple tools to make handmade, authentic pieces of art. We live and work on a hilltop in rural Pennsylvania. There, we handcraft sculpture and furniture with reclaimed materials (weathered steel and barn wood) and raise our three children. We established Gatski Metal in 2003.
Artist BiographyBen is a welder and artist, and Kate is a designer and entrepreneur. We believe in bringing you (our customers) pieces that make you happy and that you can enjoy forever. And we delight in collaborating with you to create pieces that fit perfectly into your home. Each Gatski piece is built to last — so it can be a part of your story for a long time to come.

What I Love Doing
We love the freedom to create work that is both fun and imaginative. We also love working with our customers to create One of a Kind pieces just for you!
What I Find Beautiful
We see beauty and inspiration in our surrounding landscape, our rural lifestyle, and the reclaimed. And we want to share that with you.

Our home and shop sit at the top of a hill, overlooking forest and fields. We often find ourselves creating pieces based on what we see (or can imagine) before us. Our raw material comes from scrap yards and other assorted junk piles.

My Favorite Memory
There are many special moments in our daily life up here on our hilltop. We love sharing our creative and independent life with our children. We love before dawn, starlit mornings and slow walks through the fields and forests gathering treasures, like fossils and feathers. We also love our holiday feasts with family.
My Favorite Art Style
We love vibrant, quirky, rustic, modern works of art. We also have a special passion for folk-art.
