Sweet as can be. Cast in sterling silver from a tiny, Red Oak acorn. The interior is hollowed and plated with 14k reclaimed gold.

Red Oaks are native to North America and can be found from Nova Scotia to Georgia and as far west as Oklahoma. In the fall the leaves turn deep red.

A delicate but sturdy 24" cable chain made from reclaimed sterling silver with a lobster clasp. Acorn measures about 5/8" tall.
A reminder that from little acorns mighty oaks grow.
Artist StatementThicket is minimal jewelry inspired by the natural world. The work begins with casting found and foraged botanical specimens and other natural objects into sterling silver and 14k gold. I make each piece by hand in my Charlottesville, Virginia studio using traditional metalsmithing techniques and sustainable, recycled fine metals.
Artist BiographyThicket is the jewelry line of writer and designer Rebecca Perea-Kane. I grew up in New Hampshire where my time was spent traipsing through the woods, catching wood frogs and spotted salamanders, working on farms, caring for animals. In college I worked as a caretaker in Hopkins Memorial Forest where I did trail work, tapped sugar maples, and assisted in an amphibian migration study.

Landscape, and my place within it, has been an integral part of my life. My love of the tactile, of working with my hands, and of what is functional, has led me to a life in design. Thicket is my interweaving of landscape and design.
