Additional Description:This is a Jacquard woven tapestry in cotton created from a layered series of images. This is suitable for the wall.
Garden Phase is a large tryptic 69 x 159 inches in three separate weavings. The garden moves beyond the fence panning left and right in a variety of texture and color. It sweeps up and joins the sky creating a breathtaking view. A picture window like no other.
Artist StatementThe images represented in my tapestries begin with observations of my garden. I combine my photographs with drawings to create dream like images. The image of the hand in each tapestry represents the presence of the viewer. The tapestries emphasize the textures, colors, patterns and light found at different times of day in the garden. The tapestry as a textile object has for centuries been used functionally and decoratively, creating a sense of beauty, warmth, and storytelling.

What I Love Doing
I love meeting every morning with friends over a cup of good coffee. We talk about politics, our families and neighbors, our work, art and the state of the Union.
What I Find Beautiful
Sometimes it seems hard to find beauty, but I manage to devote a bit of time each day to look for it. I look at the way light makes shadowy paths across objects and the garden, and I like how the seasons effect every aspect of my perceptions and I like how Spring bursts from the ground and then retires in Fall. This is beautiful to me and I rely on it to drive me to my art.
My Favorite Memory
Standing on Borobudur in Java and looking across the surrounding landscape at work elephants grazing.
My Favorite Art Style
Stream of Consciousness in a visual form.
