Description:My art is created using hand dyed and commercial cottons and silks. It ranges from quite simple designs and small sizes to large wall hangings. They are machine pieced and appliqued. Sometimes I use couching with yarn to add definition and sometimes I add hand painted silk or non woven fibers for layering and texture. Color is my "thing" and is one of the most important aspects of creating my art. I would love to work with you in creating a beautiful work of art for your unique space.
Artist StatementHaving spent my first 15 years in Japan as a child of missionaries, I find myself drawn to images and art reflecting Japanese ideals.
My “Window” series is about interior and exterior, the safety of being unexposed or hidden and the risk of being exposed and vulnerable. My art is an exploration of my experience of trying to find a place of belonging.
I primarily use hand dyed or painted cottons, silks and nonwovens. Use of sheers, couching and color values give a sense of depth and texture.

What I Love Doing
I love to play the piano, and I love to travel, exploring new cultures, cities and food.
What I Find Beautiful
I love the ocean, the mountains and cityscapes. I especially love to see landscapes that have layers of depth.
My Favorite Memory
I love to sew and my favorite memory is my sense of achievement upon creating my first garment out of fabric: a simple gathered skirt which I proudly wore on many an occasion.
My Favorite Art Style
My favorite style of art is abstract landscapes. I like art that is not too well defined so that one can look at it and create a scenario of one's own.
