Artist Statement & Biography
I am fascinated by torn bits of paper bearing oily stains, scraps covered in marks of ambiguous origin, and other items that bear hard evidence of the passage of time. My work is inspired by - and occasionally directly incorporates - the worn out colors, mysterious textures, and overlap of layers present in found objects. Some of my prints rely on the interactions between water and water-based inks, while other prints combine the use of traditional etching plates and chine-collé.
Nick has exhibited his work in both galleries and juried art fairs. His prints can be found in the private collections of art enthusiasts across the U.S.

What I Love Doing
In the most general terms, I love creating. While that obviously includes the creation of art, it extends to things like bookbinding, baking, and even some (very) rudimentary carpentry. Ever since I was a little kid playing with Legos, I have always derived great pleasure from first imagining something, and then using my hands to give it form.
What I Find Beautiful
I will never tire of the sight of stars on a clear night. I love gazing across the vastness of space at a spray of bright stars above.
My Favorite Memory
Standing in a mountain meadow with my wife - a winding dirt path, knee-high grass gently swaying, the slopes of the mountain encircling us, the sun warming my back, my breathing quickened with the exertion of the hike, and no sound but the wind.
My Favorite Art Style
I enjoy the quiet satisfaction of a well-executed piece of minimalism.
