Artist Statement & Biography
In this age of anonymous technology, handmade jewelry adds an individual and creative approach to the art of adornment. I work with gemstones, pearls, and sea glass to enhance their inherent beauty with sterling silver and 14k gold settings. In appreciation of the natural world that inspires me, I donate 2% of my profits to The Nature Conservancy to help preserve and restore our most valuable resources.
I started taking jewelry classes when I was 13. After high school, I studied at Maine College of Art and Rhode Island School of Design and have a BFA in Gold and Silversmithing from SUNY New Paltz. My work has been featured in exclusive shops, galleries and catalogs for over thirty years. Currently living in the beautiful Hudson Valley of New York, I share my home with assorted dogs, cats, chickens and horses. I love gardening, reading mysteries and riding horses.

What I Love Doing
Besides making jewelry, I love gardening. I have a variety of perennial gardens, some in sun and some in shade and love experimenting with different plants-their colors , textures and habits. I am continually amazed at the beauty of plants, flowering or not, they are the source of all organic design.
What I Find Beautiful
I find landscapes endlessly beautiful-real views out my window of fields and flowers, the Hudson River at dawn and sunset and any time in between, snow capped mountains all amaze me.
My Favorite Memory
One of my favorite memories is going to the ocean with my family. Weekends throughout summer, we'd pack up and spend the day on Long Island. We'd get there early and stay late. We'd swim, go for long walks, read, look for interesting pebbles or shells. Seagulls would be crying overhead, coming in close to us, while all the time, the waves crashed in the background. This is why I love the ocean and what I try to recreate in my seaglass jewelry.
My Favorite Art Style
It's hard to pick one, but I'd have to say Art Nouveau. That was a time when jewelry making flourished and there are so many examples of amazing craftsmanship utilizing unusual materials. The details, the flowing lines and the concepts based on nature just fascinate me.
