He lights a cigarette in the dim glow of street lights on the steps of his apartment building.
Before he draws the smoke in, before the crumbled, dried leaves even catch, he thinks of Alex.

Story by StoriesToArt
Artist StatementDrawing is my discipline of choice for its accessibility. I enjoy taking something as simple as a pencil and creating something complex and stimulating. I find inspiration for my work in everyday life and the things that I observe. I enjoy capturing the emotion, nuance, and nostalgia in the various intimate moments we experience in our daily lives with, at times, a touch of humor, irreverence, or quirkiness that I hope brings to mind a fond memory or the inspiration to create on.
Artist BiographyI was born in Bowling Green, Ohio with a love for art that I’ve carried with me throughout my life. I graduated in 2016 with a BFA in Drawing from Kendall College of Art & Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I have plans to further my education with a Master’s degree, with which I intend to pursue a career in higher education in fine art while maintaining my own studio practice.

What I Love Doing
I love spending time with my friends and loved ones, I love being outside in nature, I love traveling wherever life takes me, I love learning and growing, and I love drawing.
What I Find Beautiful
I find many things beatiful in life. If it tells a story or captures a history, I find it beautiful. People, nature, a new pencil, a used pencil, a drawing, a painting, a photograph, an overgrown house, an old brick wall, a well-worn pair of boots. I find all of these beautiful.
My Favorite Memory
Although young, I've already made quite a few lasting memories. Enough that I can't choose a favorite. My favorite memories come from the world travelling I've done so far: gazing up at the Sistine Chapel's ceiling fresco, boating down the Amazon River in Peru, watching the sun set over a lake in Switzerland, hiking along the Irish coast, and zipping through Tuscany in a Ferrari are all memories I'll cherish forever
My Favorite Art Style
My favorite style of art to create is hyper-realism. I enjoy the challenge and the reward after a lengthy project. The styles of art I most admire are Classical Renaissance and Surrealism.
